About McKoy,
McKoy Christiansen has been in the training business for years. He has been a full-time horse trainer for his own training business Christiansen Performance Horses for the past four years specializing in Reined Cow Horse Training and showing. Growing up he showed horses in AQHA and 4H. His dad, Kirk Christiansen, runs a colt starting operation in Emery, UT. There McKoy rode colts and chased cows. Competing in Utah High School Rodeo as an All Around Cowboy where he showed in the Cutting and Reined Cow. 2015 was the first year NHSRA partnered with NRCHA to bring the Reined Cow horse to High School Rodeo. McKoy took Boon Shocker to Nationals that first year.
Hooked ever since McKoy now specializes in training Reined Cow Horses. “I love how versatile and broke a cow horse has to be”, he says, “not only do they have to do all three events, but the foundation they have to go down the fence, cut from a herd and rein, makes them the best horses on the ranch!”
With his wife Katie, McKoy works hard to individualize every horse and client bringing them into the training process with video updates and training lessons upon request.
